Vilundabadet

The assignment from Upplands Väsby municipality for the then-new Vilundabadet was as clear as it was challenging – an attractive pool facility with a strong environmental profile.

One of the most significant challenges with aquatic centers is, of course, the acoustics – achieving a sufficiently short reverberation time in these large spaces with their naturally bare, hard surfaces. Add to that an environment with high humidity and where water splashes, one might say, are part of the inventory.

Our sound absorbers, made from our core material EcoSund®, could hardly be more fitting. EcoSund® is entirely recyclable, made from 100% PET, of which 50% is recycled. Completely free from binders, its construction makes the fibers both moisture-resistant and resistant to mold.

The result for the walls was the lamella curtain VERTIKAL. Meanwhile, for the ceiling, where the goal was to both diffuse and absorb the sound waves, a wave-shaped inner ceiling was constructed using wooden slats with an underlying sound absorber made of our core material EcoSund®.
